Canterbury House

Canterbury, VICCustom new build2024
The brief

A long, low pavilion that sits quietly behind an established elm canopy — precision-detailed in off-form concrete, pale timber and floor-to-ceiling glass.

The clients wanted a home that disappeared from the street and opened entirely to the garden. A single-storey bar threads between existing trees, with each room stepping half a level down the gentle slope. Board-formed concrete walls anchor the plan; everything else — steel, glass, pale ash — recedes.
