Studio — 01

A builder run like a drawing office.

Senior, in-house, deliberately small. We measure twice, document everything, and leave nothing for the site to improvise.

A Stratum project: stone and concrete facade with full-height glazing in Kew, Melbourne.

02 — Our story

Stratum started in 2009 with one conviction: a custom home should be built exactly as it was drawn. Too many good designs lose their edges on the way through a building site — reveals widen, thresholds step, intent dissolves into “close enough.”

So we built the company backwards from the detail. One senior team, kept small. Estimating and joinery in-house. A fixed-price tender produced only after the drawings are fully understood. The work that follows is quiet by design — and that quiet is the whole point.

03 — What we hold to

Three rules we don't bend.

Drawn, then built

The architect's documents are the contract. If a detail is unbuildable we solve it on paper first — never with an on-site shortcut.

One price, held

A fixed-price tender, itemised line by line, that we stand behind. Variations are the exception and always explained before they happen.

Tolerance is the brand

Flush, square, plumb. The finish a client feels long after handover is the millimetre they never have to notice.

04 — The team

The people who hold the line.
